Cisco Cius Tablet announced – Cius Features
Cisco has entered the tablet market with it’s first tablet PC – Cisco Cius Tablet. Cius is more like a business device, running business apps, email features, and a heavy price tag.
Cius runs on Android 2.2 Froyo, which is disappointing, as it’s quite outdated. But, Cisco says that it can run Android Ice Cream Sandwich, so we can expect an update for it soon. It is powered by an Intel Atom processor, not sure if it’s dual core or single core. It will have a 5 MP rear camera, and another front camera. It supports 3G and 4G netowrks, wi-fi, and access to Cisco AppHQ.
Cisco AppHQ is an Android market for Cisco, where only the apps approved by the administrators are available, and they can be enabled or disabled anytime, as per requirement.
With the tablet, there is an optional Docking Station, you can keep the tablet on this docking station to make it look and work like a desktop phone. The docking station also has an ethernet port.
And, it comes with built-in apps like Cisco Jabber Instant Messenger, Web Conferencing, Calendar, organizer, email and telepresence, which makes it a business phone.
