IPad 2 Review – The pros and cons

Since the official announcement, it’s just one name everywhere – IPad 2. Steve Jobs released The IPad 2 at an event at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco.

We have already discussed the IPad 2 features and specifications. Now, let’s see hoe it scores in various features and functions.

PROS

Improved Design

Apple always impresses us with it’s sleek and smart design, and IPad 2 is even better than what you would have expected. The design of IPad 2 is simply amazing. Compared to it’s predecessor, IPad 2 is 15% lighter, and 33% thinner.
The slim and sleek design of IPad 2 makes it very comfortable, and a delight to hold on.

More Powerful

The IPad 2 is powered by Dual core A5 processor, which makes it much more powerful and fast. It gives a twice faster experience than IPad.
The RAM and graphic card details are not known for now, but are expected to be 9 times better than IPad.

Updated iOS

The IPad2 runs on iOS 4.3. This latest OS version comes with various improvements, such as faster browsing on Safari, enhanced Air Play, side switch feature to lock the screen rotation or mute audio.

Dual Camera and HD support

The IPad 2 comes with dual camera – a primary rear 5MP camera, and a secondary front VGA camera. The rear camera is capable of recording HD videos at 720p (30 fps), while the front camera allows you to make video calls, and is also used for facetime and photobooth features It also has a HDMI port, through which you can watch your HD videos on TV.

Improved battery life

The size has reduced, but the battery is more effective than before. It gives you 10 hour talktime on full charge. It’s dual core A5 processor and updated iOS won’t let the battery go down so easily.

Smart Cover

Well…it was unexpected, but was a nice surprise. The IPad 2 comes with a smart cover. This cover can be attached to the device with the help of the provided magnets. It automatically cleans the screen when put on. Also, it sends the IPad to sleep mode when put on.
When folded, the cover acts as a stand and can be used while watching videos.

CONS

Well…it’s almost impossible to find any negative thing about IPad2.

But, it would have been even better if it supported flash. I know Apple does’nt provide flash support. But, seeing that all other new devices, be it smartphones or tablets provide flash support, flash would have made this device much more powerful.

Another drawback may no support to external memory. It comes in it’s 3 standard versions – 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB, but it does’nt support microSD. But, you won’t be needing it with thsi much of built-in memory.

In all, IPad 2 is an amazing device, an answer to all those who said that IPad was a disappointment.
