What’s new in Symbian Belle?

Symbian Belle is the latest version of the Symbian operating system. It is an improvement over Symbian Anna, it makes the OS more modern, and faster.

Amongst the major improvements are addition of new apps, better integration of NFC devices, and improved navigation, status bar, notifications, and more personalized widgets and homescreens.

Here are the major improvements in Symbian Belle -

Resizable Live Widgets

You now have more control over the look and positioning of the widgets. The widgets now come in 5 different sizes, and they can be completely resized and re-positioned.

There are new Toggle widgets for functions like Switching on Bluetooth, changing profile etc.

More Homescreens

Symbian Belle lets you design 6 custom homescreens, that is 3 more than the previous version, which provided 3 homescreens.

New Apps

Symbian Belle provides you with a new suite of business apps including Lync, SharePoint, Powerpoint Broadcaster, OneNote and more.

Near Field Communication Devices

NFC is more integrated with the operating system  now, it allows you to share pictures, connect to devices etc.

Improved Navigation

The navigation and option bar is now more stylish and sleek.

Improved Status Bar

The status bar now looks more modern and stylish, and it incorporates a pull down notification tab to show the common settings, and notifications for messages and calls.

Visual Muli-tasking

Now you get larger images of the running applications on your phone, and it’s easier and quicker to switch between apps.

Nokia has already announces a few smartphones running on Belle OS – Nokia 600 and Nokia 701. Plus, N8, E7, C7, C6-01, X7, E6 and 500 will get the Belle update too.
